A Human Wellness Community

seedoflife_page.png

A community dissolves the sense of separateness that causes so much of our suffering.

This page has a very special place in my heart. Here, I am reminded of all the amazing people I have met along the path. These are beings who continue to inspire me to always be true to my Dharma; as I am witness to their greatness, they will continue to move me deeply. These people are examples of love and authenticity, and bring their absolute presence to their offerings.

I have been blessed to have been touched by innumerable incredible people in my life, as they continue to inspire so many others. It is my wish that I can share them with you. They are my friends, my colleagues, part of my soul family.

These great beings are influential leaders who share a harmonious and deep connection to human evolution. Together they continue to plant the seeds of their knowledge through their expertise and their inclusivity. Each of them have many unique and special gifts, but the greatest gift they all share is their love for other human beings, their openness and their complete devotion to living a life of unity.

This is a community with no end and no beginning, boundless...a community of light, love and all.

Yoga In The Community

Leaders In The Community

“ When all is said and done, we’re just walking each other home.” -Ram Dass

This quote is currently guiding my day-to-day experience as my life unfolds. This pandemic has been tough on everyone and I am so grateful for my community of support through it all. When I started my business 6 years ago, I had no idea that it would become a catalyst for my own personal healing.

I own an inclusive and adaptive yoga studio, but we are so much more than that! We are a community of like-minded people, walking each other home. Personal and spiritual growth has always been a priority for me and I do something each day to move my life forward. I love to share those daily practices with those around me and am passionate about helping other humans to discover more of themselves through meditation, yoga, breathwork, women’s circles, healing modalities and self inquiry.

The most important part of my business is the community, having a safe and welcoming community has always been important to me. The pandemic has brought many challenges but also many opportunities. We now offer yoga classes, women’s circles and workshops online, as well as we have started selling some amazing retail! We have recently expanded into selling many metaphysical products including crystals, incense, and more. This has been so much fun for me and I am so happy to share it with so many amazing people! I also have the great privilege of being an aunty to many amazing nieces and nephews and I make it a priority to spend time with them, family, my husband and friends any opportunity that I have.

The current truth I am living is: Life really can be simple, in the end, all there is, is Love.

Laura McLaughlin & Matt Wiebe

Mala Wellness Collective

Laura is a Certified Forest Therapy Guide and Yoga Instructor.

"A lifelong learner, I am committed to knowledge, transformation and deepening my spiritual evolution. The practices of yoga and nature connection have transformed my life monumentally. As a Forest Therapy Guide, I love to bring people into deep connection and a reciprocal relationship with the more than human world. I have completed training in many styles of yoga, but especially love Kriya yoga and am continuously inspired by my mentor Meera. I am passionate about the full potential of yoga as a holistic science as a way to master our minds and our energy. My guiding philosophy is to reconnect each person to their innate wisdom and empower them to do what feels right to them, while providing tools and techniques to reach a desired state. We each have the power to change our energy and our mindset and cultivate presence to live as our fullest expression. My intention is to create experiences that allow us to truly be in the moment and embody the feeling of life flowing through us as we are connected to mind, body, spirit and nature. "

Matt is a Certified Holistic Nutrition Consultant and a Soma Breathwork Instructor. "I am on a dedicated journey of personal growth and self improvement and have spent years studying, learning, and incorporating holistic health practices. My commitment to this process has enabled me to better express the most loving, compassionate, empathetic, and healthy version of myself. I can offer valuable insights into how states of health can be realized. Noticing the powerful impact that the simple act of breathing can have on your overall health and wellbeing and how the breath dictates your reality, your stress levels, and the quality of your life and relationships was one of the most profound takeaways. My approach to health and nutrition will account for the various experiences and circumstances of one’s life. While working with me, you will be encouraged to take a holistic approach to your health by incorporating what I refer to as the Elements of Wellness. My mission is to guide you through a journey of personal discovery of what nutrition and lifestyle practices ring true in your heart - practices that when lived produce feelings of health, wholeness, love and connection."

Together, we created Mala Wellness Collective to bring healing to the collective through a wide variety of modalities. We believe that healing begins at the individual; as we come back to a state of health and harmony this healing permeates out into the collective to the benefit of all beings. Our approach is to consider wellness from a truly holistic perspective, recognizing the many aspects, both internal and external, that can affect our well-being.

We have dedicated years of deep personal work, study and integration to build a toolbox of practices that we have found to be immensely helpful in moving into a state of harmony with the self and our place in the world. We hope to share our knowledge and be of service by helping individuals optimize their health and increase connection with mind, body, spirit and nature - in turn raising the collective consciousness.

Joining a studio close to her community she began an asana practice by attending classes with various instructors. This is where she met Meera and was introduced to Kundalini and Kriya yoga. With continued practice Cheryl discovered how asana along with pranayama brought a calmness into her life.

This led Cheryl to deepen her practice and share the amazing benefits of yoga with others, especially children and teens. In May of 2019 Cheryl completed her 200HR RYT Certification focused on Hatha Yoga followed by a mentorship geared toward Vinyasa yoga . In Feb. of 2020 she joined the team at Glow Yoga Kids as a yoga instructor.

Manisha Mehta

Sun Yoga

May 2013 was a turning point in my life! My desire to be a yoga teacher took me to Sivananda Yoga Farm in Grass Valley, California where I received training in a gurukulum setting, under the esteemed yoga gurus of Sivananda lineage. I had found my calling! Having education background in Pharmacy and MBA did not give that much satisfaction as being a yoga teacher does!

In August 2013, SUN YOGA studio was founded! Since then, sharing the knowledge of yoga with people who have been coming to the studio has meant the world to me! Every class reminds me that I am only an instrument, and it fills my heart with gratitude for the opportunity to serve in His grand plan for evolution of the world through yoga. Every student on the mat, gives me an opportunity to see one thread running through all of us and teaches me the real meaning of Yoga.

Sakalya Yoga as developed by Meera and Sylvie

Co-Founder of Sakalya Yoga Registered Yoga School RYS200

Sakalya Yoga Teacher Training (coming 2021)

Sakalya Yoga Lead Teacher

Through the merging of western and eastern yoga trainings and practices, Sylvie has developed a very balanced, holistic and authentic style of teaching. Her Sakalya Yoga classes go deep into ancient, traditional Yogic practices delivered in a way that is relevant for the modern students and her sessions are weaved with creativity, fluidity and with conscious, mindful attention to proper alignment. Classes are unique, powerful and enlivening; depending on the focus of a class, students can experience both lightness and depth while exploring subtle and/or explosive energies, awakening to their full potential.

"I am a teacher. My passion is teaching yoga.

IMG_9813.heic

As a yoga teacher, I hold space for students, inviting them to arrive completely, live fully and be wholeheartedly present. I guide them to the understanding that there is so much more to yoga than the physical postures that tend to be the main focus of most of our classes here in the western part of the world. Together we grow, evolve and transcend through the holistic practice of Asana, Pranayama, Kriya, healing Mudras, Mantra, movement, ancient timeless wisdom and Meditation. We explore the depth of all of these elements to create shifts within the body, mind and spirit.

With my role as Studio Director with Crystal Tree Yoga, I look forward to bringing authentic Yogic offerings to our students and to our community. It is my observation over the years that what people are really craving is depth and that there is a real need for coming back to the ancient roots of this timeless and transformative practice. Yoga has stood the test of time (without much alteration until recent years) for a reason. For thousands of years, the Yogic teachings have been respected and practiced with deep devotion and heart felt reverence. To be initiated in these practices is to be touched by grace; I am committed to moving from this place of deep gratitude and respect, honouring these traditions and teachings.”

Lori Ellaschuk

Yoga With Lori

Lori began her yoga journey in 1999 where she felt drawn to the practice, not really knowing what to expect. In time, she was amazed at the endless gifts  yoga gave to not just her body, but her mind and spirit more importantly. Lori  graduated from the Massage Therapy Program at Grant MacEwan 21 years ago,  adding to her passion of the human body. Becoming a 200hr certified yoga  instructor in 2010, Lori has then taught many types of classes, bringing her love  and knowledge of anatomy, her gift of making ALL feel welcome, and has built  little yoga communities that remain connected together, year after year.

Her teaching style is a mix of sincerity, peppered with humour, tenderness, and  compassion. For Lori, yoga has allowed a safe space to step into her true,  authentic self. It has allowed her to have a safe and powerful space to help heal  the mind and body of past traumas, by now using many tools yoga brings. This  is why Lori loves to teach so much.

She is committed to connecting students  with the traditional teachings of the practice, having fun, becoming curious while  listening and trusting the intelligence of one’s mind and body.  Her hopes are to help as many people as she can with her gifts, using not just  massage, and cranio sacral therapy, but encourage every BODY to step onto  their mat. She inspires all that they do not need to bend like a pretzel, or  meditate like a monk, but to just take a deep breath, be open, remain committed  to start living your best life. The commitment brings significant change to one’s  consciousness. She is honoured to be part of her students’ journeys.

“You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.”...but what if you know what you’ve got then it’s gone? Capturing moments is a pretty big freakin deal. It involves loved ones, passions, moments that are your world, that are everything. Pictures tell a story, written by you. For Nikki it is a true lifelong passion to capture genuine moments and have the ability to frame images in interesting and unique ways. Ways that encompass your story, your moments.

When not behind camera lens, Nikki can be found sharing her love of Yoga. She is a registered 200hr YTT and has embarked on acquiring her Restorative, Yin, and most recently a 200hr Meditation training. She has a continuous soft spot for Yin. Forever a student to this practice she is continually in awe of everything she is being taught through the communities, connections, moments, and hearts that cross her path because of this practice. Connecting, mind, body, heart , and soul she lives to empower her students on and off the mat. Helping us all remember how we are actually good enough, just as we are.
